Was Chris Brown For Real?

Dear BFDiary,

The 10th Annual BET Awards were full of juicy tidbits that would make good beauty shop talk, but one of the most interesting moments for me was Chris Brown's breakdown during his performance of Michael Jackson's Man in the Mirror [click here to see the performance]. When his voice started to crack and his legs seemed unable to recreate MJ's original moves (which, by the way, C Breezy absolutely nailed) my gut-reaction-slip-of-the-tongue blurted: Is he serious?

Of course sitting scores of feet in front of Chris is a lot different than looking through a video camera, but what audience members (like Niecy Nash) recognized as a tearful tirade, I considered some misplaced sweat and passion. What was Chris "crying" about: the actual lyrics beckoning us to critical self-evaluation or the memory of the greatest musician of all time. And then there's his repeat apology to fans while accepting the award for the most fan support. Does this mean that Chris has been forgiven?

As someone who wasn't a ride-or-die fan to begin with, I don't have any emotional need to forgive Brown. On the other hand, I can't help but thinking that this whole redemption song breakdown turned heartfelt apology number two isn't a little too convenient to be coincidence.

Today I've come to the conclusion that this post may be unfairly judgmental, but ehhh, I'm willing to take that risk. Do you think C Breezy was for real?

I think Chris' Breakdown was very genuine, for several reasons!

1. Micheal Jackson was His IDOL, and this was his first time to publicly pay tribute to the man who helped mold him into the entertainer he is!. (Micheal Jackson Also LOveeeed Chris Brown).

2. This is the first time in a while that Chris has been able to preform at such an important event in awhile, and I am pretty sure it was an Honor for him!

3. he was trying to sing Man in the mirror!(self-explanatory)
